An Experience that Changed My Life
Every leader leads, inspires, and contributes to the greater good. However, not everyone acquires all these leadership qualities, but to be a leader it is important to have most of these qualities. I aspire to be the best leader I can be by gaining most of these leadership skills. For me, the most important leadership skill is being a great communicator. The reason why is because being a great communicator helped resolve a conflict that went on, on the board of my entrepreneurship club at school. As the founder and president of my club at school, I have the authority and the task to lead the board of the club to create amazing meetings for our members. However, when starting this club I didn’t understand the various problems that would occur when organizing meetings and coordinating with other clubs around the school. This conflict occurred because one of the board members of a different business club at school thought I was stealing the ideas from their club, and they were willing to have a conversation with the advisors about this conflict. I decided to become a leader in this situation and try to solve it between the boards of the clubs. First, I set up a meeting with both boards, where we discussed the miscommunication that occurred and proved to them that we were not stealing their ideas. At this moment, I realized that being a leader whether it was in this situation or my daily life it is extremely important to be a great communicator. The one thing I believe, in any situation, is the importance of communicating with someone and by doing this between the two boards, we finally resolved our problems. This moment in my high school career helped me realize the importance of communication with a team, and I have since been practicing this skill. We all can become leaders. Leaders are not born, but they are made. As we discover the different qualities that make a good leader we can become good leaders, whether it is in our community or on a larger scale. All leaders have common traits.
