Standardized Testing And The Stress That Comes With It
So in my first blog post, I want to talk about the amount of stress that comes with standardized testing. As we all know, as we come closer and closer to junior year in high school we continue to get more work dumped on our selfs. Less time to work on our mental health.
I have personally taken the SAT two times already and to be honest, while I was studying for this test I had a lot of stress and my mental health was slowly getting worse. We need to stop being stressed about these things. I believe I didn't perform the greatest I could on the second SAT because I was extremely stressed. Worried about the score I would get, and if all my hard work would be useful. Unfortunately, it wasn't too useful when the scores came out. Colleges are slowly understanding that giving these tests isn't a true way of judging someone's knowledge. For example, all the UCs decided to go test blind, meaning they don't look at the SAT or ACT scores. However, some colleges continue to use these scores.
In my opinion I believe everyone should take either one of these tests to try it out and to apply to colleges other then the UCs. However, I would strongly recommend to go in with no expectation and make sure you aren't stressing about the score because it truly doesn't matter. One test shouldn't dictate your life.
That's my take on Standardized Testing!
